Kablon Farms: A Quiet Force Behind the World's Chocolate

She stands in quiet confidence, dressed in a modern Filipiniana—elegant, poised, and proudly holding a bar of Kablon Farms 70% dark chocolate.

There’s no flash, no noise—just the richness of heritage and the power of something truly homegrown.

Because behind this bar is more than just cacao. It’s a legacy nurtured at the foothills of Mt. Matutum. It’s craftsmanship passed through generations.
It’s Kablon Farms: Subtle. Strong. Global.

🌴 A Family Farm Grown with Heart

You know how some booths at trade fairs just look like every other—until someone behind the table starts speaking and suddenly, it all feels different?

That was my experience at IFEX when I met Leonor B. Pantua, the youngest of the siblings behind Kablon Farms in Tupi, South Cotabato. I asked her a simple question: “What is Kablon Farms all about?”
She didn’t just answer with facts—she felt the answer. You could hear the love in her voice. The pride was palpable, and in that moment, I knew I was talking to someone deeply rooted in their craft.

Kablon Farms began in the 1960s as a family retreat under the shadow of Mt. Matutum, South Cotabato. What started as a quiet getaway evolved into one of the country’s most respected organic farms, now spanning over 60 hectares of intercropped cacao, coconuts, fruits, and native herbs.

Leonor and her siblings transformed the farm into a fully organic, multi-product enterprise—with its own on-site processing, fermentation, drying, and packaging. And the kicker? They don’t just make products. They’re behind some of the world’s best chocolate.

🍫 What the Labels Don’t Tell You (But Should)

When I asked Leonor if they exported under their own chocolate brand, she smiled knowingly. Then she pulled out her phone and showed me something better: photos of chocolate bars made in Europe and the U.S.—beautiful, award-winning creations made with Kablon Farms' cacao.

Their cacao beans are shipped to specialty chocolate makers across the globe. These makers are known for sourcing ethically, highlighting origin, and celebrating flavor. And yes, Kablon Farms is named on the label—small text, maybe, but a big nod to quality.

Upon research, I found these brands using Kablon's cacao beans; Solkiki (UK), Dormouse Chocolate (UK), Ritual Chocolate (USA), White Label Chocolate (USA), and KRAK Chocolade (Netherlands)

It looks like a whimsical ad, sure—but behind the charm is a truth most people miss: the world’s best chocolates often come from the quietest places. Kablon Farms is one of them.

🌾 More Than Cacao: The Beauty of Being Multi-Product

While cacao may be their most renowned export, Kablon Farms is proudly diverse and deeply rooted in tropical abundance. Beyond their prized cacao beans, they cultivate, process, and sell a wide array of products that read like a tropical treasure trove: tablea, artisanal dark chocolate bars, cacao nibs, and cacao husk tea; virgin coconut oil; and an impressive line of tropical fruit spreads—including guava jelly, mangosteen preserve, macapuno, coco jam, passionfruit jelly, pineapple jam, jackfruit jam, and durian jam. They also offer fruit purées, salad dressings, turmeric-based powders and drinks, and native vinegar—all crafted with the same care and quality that’s made their cacao internationally sought-after.

Every product is processed in-house, giving Kablon full control over quality—from soil to shelf. Whether you’re sipping their cacao husk tea or spreading their passionfruit jelly (my personal favorite), you’re tasting the result of decades of organic farming, careful craftsmanship, and hands-on dedication.

💚 A Farm That Feeds Its People, Too

Kablon isn’t just feeding global markets. It’s nourishing its community. They employ over 100 locals and operate pasalubong centers. Moreover, the company supports apprenticeship programs and offer educational tours.

Kablon Farms is a reminder that not all hustle needs to be loud. Some of it happens under the shade of cacao trees, in fermentation rooms, and in heartfelt conversations at trade fairs.

And next time you taste an award-winning bar of chocolate—whether it’s from Amsterdam, Utah, or Manchester—take a second to check the back label. You just might find a little piece of Mindanao there.
